Woolwich Works Reveals Family Programme With Live Shows in 2026

Woolwich Works, South East London's leading arts and entertainment venue and cultural hub, has announced a programme of family-friendly events, live performance and hands-on creative workshops for all ages throughout the rest of 2026.

Children's writer and illustrator Nick Sharratt (You Choose, Shark in the Park and Pants) will be teaching youngsters how to draw lots of exciting characters and create their very own ones too in Nick Sharratt's Picture Book Drawalong (10 May). There will be lots of books, tips and games along the way. Participants are actively encouraged to bring drawing materials along!

On Friday 29 May, during the summer half term, there are two opportunities to enjoy the award-winning Indefinite Articles' Claytime - an interactive play with clay for ages 3 – 6, hosted by the award-winning Indefinite Articles.  Each Claytime session is completely unique and it's a chance for kids to combine their imaginations with the earth's natural materials.

Original, interactive adventure The Bubble Show combines magic, storytelling, and science in a breathtaking display of bubble artistry on 14 June. This is no ordinary bubble show - legendary actor, storyteller and Guinness World Record holder Highland Joker creates whimsical soap bubbles in all shapes and sizes – including a bubble volcano and a fire tornado!

Looking ahead to the autumn, Woolwich Works continues its family programme with a series of imaginative and engaging performances. Highlights include The Museum of Marvellous Things (11 October), alongside a busy October half term featuring There's a Monster in Your Show (24 October) and Out of the Box (25 October).  The season continues into November with Mr Sleepybum's Dream Machine (8 November) and Captain Cauliflower & Marvin the Mischievous Moose (15 November), offering a playful mix of storytelling, theatre and interactive fun for younger audiences.

Although not strictly a show for kids, John Hegley: New and Selected Potatoes on Friday 8 May is a show made with adults in mind, but also suitable for older children aged 9 and above - the celebrated poet, comic, singer, songwriter and glasses-wearer will perform poems and songs from across his back-catalogue, as well as several new ones.

Nick Williams, Director at Woolwich Works said: "This programme is all about giving families the chance to experience brilliant live performance, from imaginative theatre and storytelling to hands-on creative workshops. We want Woolwich Works to be a place where children and adults alike can discover something new, feel inspired, and enjoy spending time together.”
