The Love Suicides at Sonezaki remains one of Chikamatsu's finest works, if only for the poetry in the love journey.

The suicides described in this play were real and took place on May 22, 1703. Chikamatsu (widely regarded as one of the greatest Japanese dramatists in history) was stirred by them to compose his first domestic tragedy in the same year.

Our production and first puppet show is inspired in design and direction by Japanese animation and manga. Enveloped by extraordinary Japan inspired music, you will have a rare chance to feel puppetry performance in a haunting but immediate light.
