Tinder Theatre's THE LAST MARCH Set for Southwark Playhouse, Dec 11-Jan 4

This thrilling comedy of Captain Scott's race to conquer the South Pole plays a four-week Christmas season in Southwark Playhouse's Little space from 11 December 2013 to 4 January 2014. THE LAST MARCH was created by Tinder Theatre. Directed by Ian Nicholsona nd designed by Victoria Smart with lighting design by Dom Hart, the production will give press performances on Thursday, 12 December at 4pm and 7.45pm.

Dog sleds, icy adventure, and a bitter race to the end; The Last March is the thrilling comedy of Captain Scott's last daring bid to conquer the South Pole.

Comically tragic or tragically comic, we tell the story of England's proudest and most foolhardy gentleman adventurer in his life or death race against the merciless Norwegian explorer, Amundsen.

Using spirited humour, frantic physicality and of course bucket loads of revitalising tea, tinder theatre will tell the story - from its hopeful beginnings full of promise and adventure, to its bleak snow swept end.

This time, history is written by the losers...

Director Ian Nicholson trained at Central School of Speech and Drama, and the Ecole Philippe Gaulier. He was recently assistant director to Cal McCrystal on Mr Whatnot (Royal and Derngate, Northampton) and Emma Rice on Spymonkey's Oedipussy. His work as director includes South Asian Literature Festival (Bush Theatre), The Taming of the Shrew (Romulan Taiteellinen Teatteri, Finland), Animal Farm (Arcola Theatre), and Transmissions New Writing Festival (Birmingham Repertory Theatre).
