Tickets on Sale This Saturday for New 2017 Shows at Sheffield
In the Studio Theatre, Cathy (Tuesday 10 - Wednesday 11 January), a brand new play based on Ken Loach's ground-breaking 1960s film Cathy Come Home, offers a timely reflection on the social impact of spiraling rents and forced relocation. After each performance audiences will have the opportunity to discuss, disagree and even change the outcome in an interactive debate.
Sell-out West End comedy The Play That Goes Wrong comes to the Lyceum from Monday 13 - Saturday 18 February and follows The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society as they put on a 1920s murder mystery. But as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong, does and as the accident prone thesps battle on against all the odds to reach their final curtain call, hilarious results ensue!
Kay Mellor's (In The Club, Band of Gold) romantic comedy A Passionate Woman visits the theatre from Tuesday 28 February - Saturday 4 March and stars Liza Goddard (Bergerac, Yes Honestly) as Betty a passionate, doting mum, as she reflects on her long-lost youth. Surrounded by her memories and ghosts from her past Betty finds herself torn between a husband she never loved, a son about to leave and the man she shared a passionate affair with.
Michael Morpurgo's novel Running Wild, is brought to lush life on the Lyceum stage from Tuesday 7 - Saturday 11 March. For Lilly, going to Indonesia isn't just another holiday with mum. It's a new start, and the chance to ride an elephant called Oona. But then a tsunami hits. Based on a true story, this epic, vibrant production tells an emotional and moving story of love, loss, loyalty and of living for the moment.
More family entertainment then comes in the form of Zippo's Cirque Berserk! on stage from Wednesday 22 - Saturday 25 March. Featuring the world's most hair raising circus act - the legendary motorcycle 'Globe of Death', this jaw-dropping spectacular combines contemporary cirque-style artistry with adrenaline-fuelled stunt action that is sure to delight audiences of all ages!
Finally, English Touring Opera return to the Lyceum Theatre with Gilbert and Sullivan's light comic opera Patience on Monday 20 March and one of the world's best-loved operas, Puccini's Tosca on Tuesday 21 March and local theatre company Croft House Theatre Company will perform Priscilla Queen of the Desert from Tuesday 14 - Saturday 18 March.
