Cabinet of Cynics Theatre Company in association with the White Bear Theatre is pleased to announce the world première of a new play by Patrick Marmion. Terms & Conditions opens on 14 November, with previews from the 12 November, and runs until 1 December.

"So I went and made a cup of sweet tea and he drank it down in one, even though it was really hot. Then he hugged me and kissed me on both cheeks. He stank so much I was nearly sick."

A young couple find a strange man with a violin in the cellar of their new home. Where is he really from? Should they surrender him to the law, book music lessons for their son, or do away with him altogether?

Between a shrink's couch, the arrival of unexplained groceries and a sacrificial dog, Patrick Marmion's unnerving new comedy is about the stuff you don't want to know, but you ultimately have to accept.

Co-producer Michael Kingsbury said today, "I immediately loved Patrick's play when I read it at Christmas last year. It manages to be both really funny and psychologically eerie. We're thrilled to have been able to schedule it at the White Bear and to welcome a really exciting team to the theatre. Carmen Mueck is one of the most talented young theatre designers around and Simon Usher is a first class director with experience at all the country's leading theatres."

Patrick Marmion is a writer, journalist and Associate Lecturer at the University of Kent. Plays include The Institute, Vanitas, Osterley and Pieta (after The Seagull by Anton Chekhov). Screenplays include Mushroom Soup (with Sam Mendes and Renaissance Films), Archie Tanner & The Dodo (Children's Film Foundation) and The Dead Guy - based on his novel.

Simon Usher directs. Usher has worked extensively in the UK at theatres including the Royal Court, Bush Theatre, RSC, National Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse and in the West End. He has been Associate Director of the Haymarket Leicester and Joint Artistic Director of Belgrade Theatre, Coventry.

Set and costume design is by Carmen Mueck. Her work includes Judgment Day (director James Dacre) and Ivy & Joan (director Simon Usher), both at The Print Room.
