Sheffield Theatres Announce Autumn Shows Including CHICAGO, JOSEPH, LADYKILLERS, WOMAN IN BLACK, LITTLE VOICE & Much More

Sheffield Theatres today unveiled its season of touring productions coming to the venue this Autumn. Tickets go on sale to the public from 10.00am on Saturday 23 June.

Northern Ballet open the season of work in the Lyceum with Puccini’s beautiful Madame Butterfly (Tue 18 – Sat 22 Sep); the multi award-winning musical Chicago, dances into town starring Ali Bastian, Stefan Booth and BErnie Nolan later in the same month (Mon 24 – Sat 29 Sep), and the musical magic continues in November with Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s family musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Tue 20 – Sat 24 Nov).

In October, direct from a sell-out West End season, the classic black comedy The Ladykillers comes to life starring Michele Dotrice (Betty in Some Mothers Do ’Ave ’Em) and Shaun Williamson (EastEnders) in an hilarious new adaptation by Graham Linehan (Father Ted, The IT Crowd). The latest instalment from the official Agatha Christie Theatre Company, Murder on the Nile, will then keep audiences on The Edge of their seats from Monday 15 – Saturday 20 October. Following the success of the recent film starring Daniel Radcliffe, The Woman in Black is back on stage to give audiences another nerve shredding experience (Mon 5 – Sat 10 Nov), and Olivier award-winning comedy The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, starring Beverley Callard (Coronation Street), Ray Quinn (X-Factor, Legally Blonde) and Joe McGann (Calendar Girls, Upper Hand), will delight audiences with a sparkling night of music, divas and romance (Mon 26 Nov – Sat 1 Dec).

The Theatre will play host to some well-known city festivals during the autumn. Off the Shelf Festival of Words returns once more, this time with appearances from comedian, novelist, actor and broadcaster, Sandi Toksvig (Mon 8 Oct) and Benjamin Zephaniah, one of the UK’s best loved performance poets (Sat 3 Nov). The Last Laugh Comedy Festival also returns in October with a series of events from some of the biggest and brightest names on the comedy circuit including Jack Dee (Mon 8 – Tue 9 Oct), Julian Clary (Sun 14 Oct), Fred MacAulay (Wed 17 Oct) and Russell Kane (Mon 22 Oct).

For younger audiences, everyone’s favourite little star Angelina Ballerina pirouettes onto the Lyceum stage in a brand new musical packed full of singing and dancing (Wed 31 Oct – Sat 3 Nov) and tutti frutti return to the Studio Theatre with Rapunzel, an enchanting tale for youngsters aged three plus (Wed 12 Dec – Sat 5 Jan).

The family fun then continues into Christmas with the spectacular family pantomime Cinderella, starring panto favourite DamIan Williams, Jonathan Ansell (G4), Sue Devaney (Dinnerladies) and Ben Faulks (CBeebies’ Mr Bloom) from Friday 7 December – Sunday 6 January. My Fair Lady, one of the greatest musicals of all time, is brought to life on the Crucible stage from Wednesday 12 December to Saturday 26 January, directed by Sheffield Theatres’ Artistic Director Daniel Evans.
These new shows join those that have already been announced - Macbeth (Wed 5 Sep – Sat 6 Oct), The Village Bike (Thu 13 Sep – Sat 6 Oct), A Taste of Honey (Thu 25 Oct – Sat 17 Nov), Straight (Thu 1 – Sat 24 Nov) and the hotly anticipated production of The Full Monty (Sat 2 – Sat 23 Feb).
