Seasonal Rep Returns to The Leatherhead Theatre Following Swanage Rep Success

Seasonal Rep will return to The Leatherhead Theatre after almost 30 years, with a series of three professional plays presented by Hordern Ciani, the team behind the hugely successful Swanage Rep season which launched at the Mowlem Theatre, Swanage in August this year.

Leatherhead Rep will run from 17 April to 5 May 2018, featuring 'Yes, Prime Minister' by Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn, 'The Secret Garden'; a new musical adaptation by Dave Simpson based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, and 'Communicating Doors' by Alan Ayckbourn. The company of nine actors will be resident at the theatre for a month, rehearsing one play during the day and performing another at night.

Swanage Rep are also returning to the Mowlem Theatre in August for a second season that will include 'Communicating Doors' as well as the premier of a brand new, musical adaptation of 'The Railway Children' by Dave Simpson, and Michael Aitken's 'Waiting for God', adapted from the hit TV-sitcom of the 1990s.

The Leatherhead Theatre is a 500 seater, Grade II listed building which opened as a purpose-built rep theatre in 1969. The last professional repertory season played there in the late 1980s. Hordern Ciani's 2017 Swanage Rep season was the first to take place at the Mowlem Theatre for 25 years.

We are thrilled to be extending our rep programme to the beautiful Leatherhead theatre too. Smaller regional theatres often overlook 'traditional plays' in their programming and we feel very lucky to have been welcomed by the Leatherhead and Swanage theatres and communities with such open arms."
