There really has been A Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On at the Noël Coward Theatre as legendary rocker Rod Stewart swung by yesterday (Wednesday 13 July 2011) to meet the cast of smash hit musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET!
Having recently seen the show during a rare outing in the West End, Stewart was reportedly so impressed by the young cast that he had to go back to the theatre to meet them in person! Stewart praised: "Rock 'n' Roll at its purest - a wonderful night out! Very authentic and the standard of musicianship extremely high. I had a ball!!"
Stewart is the latest in a line of rock music royalty that have partied with the "million dollar quartet", joining the likes of legends Ronnie Wood, Bill Wyman, Suzie Quatro, Tony Christie and original drummer of The Beatles, Pete Best. Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda also lent a little Hollywood glamour to 1950's Tennessee when she recently watched the show.
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, the international hit musical that's "taking the West End by storm" (Daily Mail), tells the electrifying true story of Sun Records founder Sam Phillips and the night his ‘million dollar quartet' of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis played together for the first and only time. Packed with over 20 classic hit songs including Blue Suede Shoes, I Walk The Line, Hound Dog, and Great Balls of Fire, this "definite must-see" (Sunday Mirror) is performed live by an incredible cast of actors and musicians, whose talent and infectious energy have audiences dancing-in-the-aisles every night!
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is produced in the West End by Relevant Theatricals, John Cossette Productions, American Pop Anthology, John Gore, Thomas B. McGrath, Joseph Smith and Michael McCabe.
Productions of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET are playing simultaneously in London, New York and Chicago. A North American tour launches in October 2011.
