Theatre company RoL'n Productions have announced the cast for their upcoming production of Thomas Babe's barbed comedy Taken In Marriage.

The young and beautiful Annie sits waiting in a basement on the eve of her wedding. Surrounded by female family members, with no chance of escape, it's not long before feelings, frustrations, and closely guarded secrets begin to emerge.

Annie's sister, Andy, is forced to reassess her family's relationships on every level. The sisters' mother and aunt attempt to provide pearls of wisdom to guide the girls on their chosen paths, but instead discover surprising revelations of their own. A feisty, down-on-her-luck wedding singer completes the party, poking at this buzzing beehive of dysfunction, in turn forcing Annie and the rest of the women to question whether the lives they have chosen are the lives they really want.

RoL'n Productions invite you to sit tight for a ride filled with tension, laughter, surprise, and most importantly truth, as a lost family begins the difficult journey towards finding itself.

Playing the role of the blushing bride-to-be Annie is Alex Critoph, who graduated from LAMDA in 2014. During training Alex undertook a variety of roles including Puck in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Johanna in Sweeney Todd, the musical by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler. Since graduating Alex has appeared in Scribble: Welfare with Mind Your Head Theatre

Company and starred in the short film Alex The Vampire directed by Christopher Nicholson.

Annie's older sister and troublemaker extraordinaire Andy will be played by RoL'n co-founder Liane Grant. Liane trained at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, where she played several roles including Julius Caesar in Julius Caesar, Aunt Sally in Fifth of July and Mrs Warren in Mrs Warren's Profession. She went on to study at the University of Cambridge where she played Dolly in Annie Get Your Gun and Kate in All My Sons. Liane believes passionately in creating your own opportunities and has founded RoL'n Productions to highlight the talent of women in the arts.

Ruth, the shrewd and often steely mother of the two siblings, will be played by Jeryl Burgess. Since training at The London Centre of Theatre Studies, Jeryl has appeared in countless plays, television shows and films across the UK. Recent roles include Duke Frederick in the White Bear Production of As You Like It, One in Thebes at Greenich Theatre and Mary in Liger Films' PREMature.

Playing Ruth's older sister, the free-spirited Aunt Helen is Joan Plunkett - a dancer and choreographer turned actress who hails from Ireland. Joan is no stranger to Waterloo East Theatre, having played Cilissa in Theatre Libre's House of Atreus. Other roles include Bella in Baking Bread at The Lost Theatre and Joanna in the short film A Simple Connection by Aiman Yahya Jabayee, as well as starring in the UK tour of Motherland with Vincent Dance Theatre.

Completing the quintet is Miami-born Roxanne Lamendola who plays Dixie - a wedding singer who has been hired to entertain the party unbeknownst to the bride. Rox is the other co-founder of RoL'n Productions and is leaving behind the sunny shores of Florida to make her London debut. She trained alongside Liane at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and her most recent theatre work includes Ladies At The Alamo, Lucky Stiff, Smile, Miami Beach: The Musical and Hello, Dolly. Roxanne is an accomplished singer/songwriter and playwright - her new rock musical UNRAVELING was recently premiered at the Broward Centre for the Performing Arts in South Florida.

Taken In Marriage will be directed by Lucy Atkinson, whose most recent engagement is as Assistant Director on Les Enfants Terribles production of Alice's Adventures Underground at The Vaults.
