The world can be a messy place but why can't tidiness be as exciting for children and chaos as joyful for parents? Peut Être Theatre present Tidy Up, a new touring dance theatre show for children aged 3+.

Inspired by the child's desire to create patterns and systems, Tidy Up, gently explores notions of chaos and order and investigates those universal questions as to why some of us gravitate towards mess and whether there is a right way to tidy up?

Directed by Peut Être's Artistic Director Daphna Attias, Tidy Up opens on 23 October at the Great Ormond Street Hospital, London as part of Family Arts Week at the hospital. It will embark on an extensive tour to venues around London, Bath, Reading, Cambridge, Salford, Nottingham, Barnsley and Wales.

Featuring original music, visuals, dance and movement, Tidy Up is a non-verbal show, which unpacks the surprising invention which comes out of a great big mess.

Developed in partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital, (GOSH ARTS) patients and families, Peut Etre has worked closely with clinicians in researching the effect organisational challenges have on the neurological and cognitive development in early years.

In 2014 the company was invited to undertake a residency at Great Ormond Street Hospital following the success of their production of Shh...Bang, With Tidy Up, the company will be based in the hospital, rehearsing and developing the show alongside patients and staff. Each morning workshops will be held for the in-patients and out-patients inspired by the themes of the play, resulting in a performance in the ward for patients and families.

Daphna Attias said 'There is not a day in which I don't ask my children to tidy up, so I wanted to find a way to question if tidying up could be fun for children and if chaos could be fun for parents. Our approach is non-verbal, full of movement, music and visuals. We hope to knock down the preconceptions of right and wrong and trace what actually dictates our sense of order. We will challenge audiences to identify and question their own tidying-up habits and investigate children's 'right or wrong' order.

Caroline Moore, Arts Officer for Gosh Arts said 'We are delighted to be working with Peut-Être Theatre on Tidy up. It will be a unique and exciting opportunity for families and staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital to contribute to the development of a piece of theatre, which will then tour nationally.

Participating in the arts can alleviate boredom, distract us and help us to process situations, which is especially important for patients at Great Ormond Street Hospital who could be here for extended periods of time. GOSH patients can also miss out on key cultural events which their peers participate in though school or at the weekend etc. This is where GOSH Arts and our partner organisations such as Peut-Être Theatre can help, having Peut-Être Theatre in residence will be exciting for families and staff a-like!

The Performers are Maya Politaki, Anna Wolhouse and Charlie Hendren.

Peut Être have been touring nationally and internationally since 2008. Their previous productions include Shh...Bang! Dare to Sea, Clunk, The Tin Soldier, The Little Bird Who Stayed For Winter, Draw Me A Bird, The Bug and the Butterfly and This is a That.

The company would like to gratefully acknowledge the support of The Roundhouse, Watermans Arts Centre and Stone Nest
