Lenny Henry Joins Cast of Northern Broadside’s LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST at York Theatre Royal on May 5

Northern Broadsides has announced that the final actor to play the cameo role of Marcade the messenger in their critically acclaimed production of Love's Labour's Lost will be Lenny Henry. Lenny Will be joining the 16 strong cast at the final two performances of the production's national tour at York Theatre Royal on Saturday 5 May at 2.30pm & 7.30pm.

In 2008 Lenny made his Shakespeare debut in the title role of the Halifax based theatre company's production of Othello. The production received much acclaim on its national tour and West End run, ultimately leading to winning The Milton Shulman Award for Outstanding Newcomer at the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards. Lenny has just finished appearing in the critically acclaimed production of Comedy of Errors at The National Theatre.

Explains Director Barrie Rutter: "I am absolutely thrilled that Lenny is joining us to play the important role of the messenger at York Theatre Royal for our final performances of the Love's Labour's Lost tour . It's such a delight to be working with him again"

Barrie Rutter directs a cast of 16 northern actors who will fill the stage in this fast-pacEd Battle of the sexes. In true Broadsides' style there'll be rousing song and dance, scintillating performances, jaw-dropping comic timing and hilarious'steal-the-show' scenes.
