Grand Theatre to Help Celebrate Artsfest in Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton Grand Theatre has teamed with the University of Wolverhampton, the Arena Theatre and other arts organisations within the city to celebrate Artsfest - a festival of arts and culture within Wolverhampton and surrounding areas from Thursday 8 - Sunday 30 June 2017.

Artsfest is a multi-disciplinary festival; celebrating the cultural life of the Black Country and the emerging and professional artists whose work is made in the region. Both professional and student work is housed in over 20 different venues across the city of Wolverhampton. Artsfest 2017 spans four weeks and sees over 70 events in the fields of Performing Arts, Poetry and Literature, Film and Media and Art and Design.

As a key partner to Artsfest, the Grand Theatre contributes a variety of productions, striving to offer entertainment for all ages and extra activities designed to engage local interest in the city's flourishing arts scene.

Grand Theatre contributions to the Artsfest programme include the stage adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's novel RUNNING WILD from Tuesday 6 - Saturday 10 June. A GRAND MUSIC HALL on Wednesday 14 June sees Don Maclean top the bill with musical host Ian Adams - regular Dame from the Grand Theatre's pantomimes. Comedian Stewart Lee is part of the Artsfest line up at the Grand Theatre on Wednesday 21 June with Stewart Lee - CONTENT PROVIDER and Small Faces Mod musical ALL OR NOTHING runs from Thursday 22 - Saturday 24 June. Completing the Grand Theatre's Artsfest offerings is LA CAGE AUX FOLLES starring EastEnders' and West End star John Partridge, T.J. Hooker's Adrian Zmed and West End legend Marti Webb from Tuesday 27 June - Saturday 1 July.

Other highlights at other venues include WOLVES ARE PEOPLE TOO at the Arena Theatre on Saturday 10 June - a multi-discipline ballet/jazz/illustration performance piece featuring some of the UK's most creative and in-demand improvisers. A free event, REYNARD THE FOX - THE FABULARIUM at the Mander Centre on Friday 16 June. Reynard the Fox follows the woodlands' most infamous scoundrel who prides himself on being the trickster of the forest. It is a new piece of engaging outdoor theatre for family audiences of all ages, featuring storytelling, puppetry, original live music and The Fabularium's bespoke animal headpieces. ILLUMAPHONIUM is a free multi-sensory music installation at Light House Media Centre between 12pm - 8pm on Saturday 17 June.
