A COMIC and touching story of losing and creating memories comes to The Marlowe Studio next month.

Finding Joy, from Vamos Theatre, "one of the most innovative, exciting full-mask mime companies currently touring" (The Stage), sold out at the London International Mime Festival. Based on a true story, it is inspired by one family's remarkable and unconventional experience of dementia.

Joy Wilson is a funny and gentle 80-something and her grandson Danny a teenager who's going off the rails. When Joy starts to find it hard to remember things, Danny decides he will care for her. Together, they discover a shared playfulness and a mutual affection. But will that be enough to take on the challenges ahead?

Finding Joy is about a young man who discovers extraordinary caring instincts, and the joyous, playful and accepting relationship he develops with his grandma. Whilst dementia is a tough, often heart-breaking condition, this production encourages people to remember the person beyond the dementia, and shows how positive caring can make a world of difference to everyone facing it.
