EDINBURGH 2011: Late-Night Travel Improved For Festival
As the Edinburgh Festival Fringe kicks off for another year, more trains and buses are being provided to help festival goers get home.
Both First Scotrail and Citylink have confirmed that they are to put on extra late night services over the three weeks of the Fringe.
As well as their usual services Citylink are to have buses going from Edinburgh to Glasgow between 1.30am and 3am every day until September 4th.
From August 6th to August 29th First Scotrail will have an extra train to Glasgow leaving at 00:01, calling at Linlithgow, Polmont, Falkirk High, Croy and Bishopbriggs. The train company are also planning a 00:30 service on Friday and Saturday. Sunday morning services from Glasgow Queen St to Edinburgh Waverly will become half-hourly.
There are also plans to extend the late night service from Edinburgh to Inverkeithing as far as Kirkcaldy, departing Edinburgh at 23:52 on Fridays from 12 to 26 August. There are also plans to have more trains to Perth and East Lothian.
The service operators have said that they expect the last trains and buses to be busy and have recommended booking in advance.
