Discover Liverpool's Irish History In Compelling Play From Lovehistory

By:
It is just two weeks until Lovehistory, producers of the popular 'Catacombs of Liverpool's Dark History' series present their thought provoking and compelling play, Irish Liverpool in the stunning Concert Room at St George's Hall on Saturday 18 March to coincide with St Patrick's Day.

A captivating dramatization, this theatrical production will commemorate all of those who lost their lives in the Great Famine of the 1840s, taking audiences on a journey through the passages of Liverpool's Irish migration.

With an estimated three quarters of its population having Irish roots, Liverpool is widely known as the 'real capital of Ireland' and this poignant production will take an in depth look at the city's rich Irish ancestry.

The evening will feature wonderfully insightful and captivating tales, all of which are historically accurate having been researched by Lovehistory who worked closely with Liverpool University History department.

Lovehistory, the city's most animated storytellers once again bring together a team of versatile actors who bring these fascinating characters to life, all with an intriguing story to tell.

Irish immigrant women describe their heart-breaking journey from Ireland, Liverpool merchants debate the problem of the Irish, and activists share their struggle for better living conditions for those escaping the famine that destroyed thousands of lives.

This thought provoking performance will explore how Irish migration impacted on Liverpool life and culture and how those legacies live on today.

Judy McLean, Creative Director of Lovehistory, said: "We are thrilled to be presenting this exploration of Liverpool's Irish history at the Concert Room. There is such a strong Irish presence in Liverpool and this is a really poignant piece that shows the trials and struggle that they faced. It will be a wonderful way to prolong the St Patrick's Day celebrations!"

Make St Patrick's Day extra special and join Lovehistory as they explore and celebrate the links between Liverpool and the Emerald Isle.
