Back to the Musicals Presents A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS at The Pheasantry Tonight

Following four critically acclaimed shows since its launch earlier this year, the Back to the Musicals series returns to The Pheasantry in Chelsea today, 9th December 2012, with A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS, a celebration of festive music from the world of theatre and film.

BACK TO THE MUSICALS: A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS will feature songs from classic shows such as Mame and White Christmas, modern material from Songs for a New World and Elf, and music from films such as Home Alone, Alan Menken’s Christmas Carol and Polar Express.

BACK TO THE MUSICALS: A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS profiles the songs we associate with Christmas, the films that define the holiday season, and the musicals that remind us what Christmas really means. In keeping with the Back to the Musicals format, material from the 1940s to the present day will be performed with festive spin and dash of seasonal magic.

Back to the Musicals was established in early 2012. The series explores the rich and varied back catalogue of musical theatre's biggest hits (and misses), with a plethora of showtunes, a smattering of musical theatre history, and young performers at the outset of their careers.

Coyle with musical direction by Nicholas Chave.

The cast of burgeoning young musical theatre talent includes Jennifer Coyle, Amelia Adams-Pearce, Liz Carter, Samuel Haughton, Kirsty Knight, Sam Lathwood, Emma-Jane Morton, Dale Page and Steven Oliver Webb.

Back to the Musicals was launched in May 2012, with a show celebrating musical theatre songs from the 1940 – 1945 era. Following critical acclaim, the series returned in July, September and November. The series is now a regular fixture at The Pheasantry.

Jennifer Coyle trained at The Arden School of Theatre and graduated last year. Since moving to London, Jennifer has performed in West End Unplugged with Interval Productions at Leicester Square Theatre and as a soloist at Theatre Royal, Stratford East. She alson performed in The Last Night at the Library at the Library Theatre in Manchester.

Amelia Adams-Pearce trained at Italia Conti, and later the Royal Academy of Music. Since graduating, Amelia has performed extensively in the West End and beyond, including roles in the UK première of Michael John LaChiusa's The House of Bernada Alba and the UK tour of Monty Python's Spamalot. She is currently reprising her role in Spamalot's West End transfer at The Playhouse Theatre, following which she will join the UK tour of Hairspray.

Liz Carter trained at Bretton Hall. She is currently touring the UK in Dreamboats and Petticoats. Her previous theatre credits include Wendy in Peter Pan at the Central Theatre in Chatham and Princess So-Shy/Slave of the Ring in Aladdin at HarroGate Theatre.

Samuel Haugton trained at the Guildford School of Acting. Since graduating, he has been involved in various workshop pieces, including Ella and the Dragophant, A new Day, and Tall, Thin and Blonde. He most recently played Jon in Jonathan Larson's tick... tick... BOOM! at the Africa Centre in Covent Garden.

Kirsty Knight trained at The Arden School of Theatre and graduated last year. Whilst training, her roles include Daughter in Pirates of Penzance and Secretary in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Kirsty has also performed with The Sunday Roast in London, produced by Gigging For It.

Sam Lathwood trained at Arts Ed, graduating earlier this year. Since graduating, Sam has performed as a dancer in Momentous Musicals at New Wimbledon Theatre, and performed in the all-male Pirates of Penzance at Hackey Empire and on an Australian tour. In 2013, he will join the UK tour of Hairspray.

Emma-Jane Morton graduated from The Arden School of Theatre last year. She is currently touring the UK in the cast of Dreamboats and Petticoats.

Dale Page trained at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Since graduating, he has performed extensively around the UK, most notably in touring productions of Spring Awakening, The Laramie Project, and Lillies. Dale has most recently performed in the all-male Pirates of Penzance at Hackey Empire and on an Australian Tour.

Steven Oliver Webb trained at Guildford School of Acting. His theatre credits include HMS Pinafore at the Kings Head, Carousel at the Broadway Studio Theatre, Gutter Press at Riverside Studios, and Lend Me A Tenor at Gielgud Theatre in the West End. He has recently finished filming Dead or Alive (BBC).

Relaunched in 2010, The Pheasantry is a beguiling venue on the kings Road in the heart of Chelsea, which is fast becoming established as the new London home of contemporary cabaret and intimate concert performances. Since its relaunch, the Pheasantry has played host to the highest echelon of cabaret performers, as well as stars from the West End, Broadway and beyond.
