Are You Ready For A Party? BRAZILICA Festival Is One Week Away! ImageDust off those feathers, polish your sequins and don't forget some last-minute practice of those Samba moves, because there is just a week to go until this year's Brazilica. Liverpool Carnival Company is promising a spectacular three days of vibrant and colourful music, performance and film from 14-16 July.

Who will be crowned Brazilica Carnival Queen 2017, find out at PANAM at the Albert Dock on Friday 14th July from 8pm. This free event launches the festival with a bang, as music, dance a lively competition as Samba dancers from across the UK perform to a panel of judges and hosted by Ellie Phillips.

And the annual festival has a new home for 2017 for the main festival day on Saturday 15th July - Liverpool's world-famous Pier Head.

The Pier Head Village will deliver a programme of world class entertainment, locally-sourced street food and artisan markets, high flying thrill rides and activity based family entertainment, offering a complete day to night summer experience designed to entertain all ages.

One of the highlights of the festival will be the Brazilica main stage programme, which will transform the Pier Head in to a sizzling epicentre of colourful carnival action.

The spectacular night-time Carnival Parade which is led by the winner of the Carnival Queen competition and features Samba bands from across the UK and overseas will remain the main festival highlight on the Saturday night. Thousands of people always line the route, which makes its way from Abercromby Square through the city centre streets before coming to a colourful conclusion in Williamson Square.

Meanwhile the Brazilian Film Festival is returning for a third year running with a host of documentaries and dramas from across the country, screened at locations throughout Liverpool.

And there is also a Fringe Festival packed with exhibitions and workshops, with many artists and bands already confirmed from around the world to take part. Events will take place in venues across the city.

The UK's largest Samba Carnival event, Brazilica has become one of the flagship events of the year in Liverpool's festival calendar. A colourful celebration of Brazilian music, dance, culture, food and sport, it attracts over 60,000 visitors to the city centre and this year the event promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Maeve Morris, Artistic Director of Liverpool Carnival Company, said: "We're delighted to be able to bring Brazilica to the Liverpool waterfront for 2017. It's where the city has always looked out towards the rest of the world - and particularly the Americas.

"This year's event is packed with music and colour, from our annual Carnival Parade to the amazing line-up of bands and performers we have for the festival stage at the Pier Head. We can't wait to celebrate our 10th anniversary with the people of Liverpool - we know how the city likes a great party and that's what we can promise it will get."
