The Broadway smash WICKED, which ran October 21 - November 28 at Toronto's Canon Theatre, shattered its own house record five times. For the week ending November 28th, the musical grossed $1,986,319 making it the highest-grossing week for a touring Broadway show in Canadian history. Over its sold-out, 6-week engagement, WICKED took in $11,459,475, grossing over $1,900,000 in 3 of those weeks.

This engagement marks the third time WICKED has played Toronto. The First National Tour launched here in March of 2005 and celebrated its fifth anniversary on the road earlier this year.

"WICKED's third engagement in Toronto brought the show to new heights of popularity in Canada. Audiences have whole-heartedly embraced the show here, the city where we first launched our North American tour in 2005," says producer David Stone. "We are thrilled to bring WICKED to other major cities throughout Canada this summer where we hope audiences will welcome the show as they have done in Toronto."

This summer, WICKED will take the rest of Canada by storm with dates recently announced in the following cities:

Vancouver, BC June 1-26, 2011 Queen Elizabeth Theater

Calgary, AB June 29-July 17, 2011 Southern Jubilee Auditorium

Edmonton, AB July 20-August 7, 2011 Northern Jubilee Auditorium

Saskatoon, SK August 10-21, 2011 TCU Place

Winnipeg, MB August 24-September 4, 2011 Centennial Concert Hall

Winner of 35 major awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards, WICKED is the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

Declared "A Cultural Phenomenon" by Variety and "The Best Musical of the Decade" by Entertainment Weekly, WICKED currently has productions in New York, London, Osaka, Stuttgart, and on two North American tours. Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, WICKED has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento. WICKED is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone.

Grammy Award-Winning Cast recording available on Decca Broadway. For more information about WICKED log on to www.wickedthemusical.com.

*As a note to all calendar listing editors, the title of the show is WICKED (not WICKED: A New Musical or WICKED, the untold story of the witches of Oz).
