WAR HORSE Honours Canada's Veterans with Free Tickets

By:

Remembrance Day was instituted in 1919 to observe the end of hostilities of the First World War, which ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Since then, the day recognizes all armed forces that died in the line of duty and honours all veterans who fought in all wars since.

War Horse, the internationally acclaimed play about loyalty, family and the affirmation of life even in the darkest moments, takes place before and during the First World War. So it is only appropriate that the all-Canadian production of War Horse invites our war veterans and the men and women who still serve and protect our country, to attend this spectacular and moving play for free.

The National Bank, the presenting sponsor of War Horse Canada, inspired this initiative by inviting a group of veterans to attend this Sunday, November 11 performance. The production has decided to extend this fitting tribute to more veterans over the next month of performances.

Each Canadian veteran and each still-serving member of our armed forces will receive one free ticket to War Horse for any performance of the show from November 13 to December 2, 2012. Tickets will be available in person only at the Princess of Wales Theatre box office, 300 King Street West, Toronto. Each veteran will also be able to purchase companion tickets at the very special prices of $39 or $69. We ask that veterans and members of the armed forces wear or carry something identifiable, such as a medal, beret, blazer or uniform when requesting their tickets.

War Horse began performances in Toronto on February 10, 2012. The show will end its run on January 6, 2013, setting a record as the longest-running professional play in Canadian theatre history.
