Tuesday, October 6th marks the opening of Ireland's renowned Druid Theatre Company's production of The Walworth Farce. The production is kicking off its North American tour at Harbourfront Centre's World Stage, and this show promises to be a crowd pleaser!

From acclaimed playwright Edna Walsh comes the story of an Irish father and his two sons who are trying to come to terms with their past in Ireland while living in a shabby council flat on the Walworth Road in London. This comical yet tender tale should appeal to audiences both young and old, as it cleverly explores the details of the lives of its main characters.

The Walworth Farce has had incredible success in Edinburgh, New York, London and Ireland and won the Edinburgh Fringe First Award. This is also the second time that the World Stage has hosted one of Edna Walsh's plays, the first one being the breakthrough Disco Pigs back in 1998, which was turned into a major motion picture in 2001.

This will be the only Canadian stop for The Walworth Farce, and it will play the Fleck Dance Theatre from Oct 6-10 before embarking on its coast-to-coast US tour. Canadian theatre goers should not miss the chance to see the show that Variety hails will "claw at the imagination for days afterwards" Tickets range from $20-$40 and can be purchased through the Harbourfront Centre box office by phone at 416.973.4000 or online at www.harbourfrontcentre.com
