TOSketchFest Presents 'The Best of the Fest Weekend,' 4/12-15

Festival founders Paul and Julianne Snepsts today announced the expansion of the Best of the Fest Encore Show – a not-to-be-missed evening of sketch – to an entire weekend of comedy.  The Best of the Fest Encore Weekend will kick off with all three award winners in the Best of the Fest Showcase on Thursday, April 12 at Second City, and will continue to highlight these hilarious troupes throughout the weekend with shows and workshops from Peter ‘n Chris and Falcon Powder at Lower Ossington Theatre.

 

For the second year in a row Falcon Powder (Jim Annan, Scott Montgomery and Kurt Smeaton) emerged victorious as the Second City Best of the Fest Award winners. They will prove why they are the best with a rare remount of their full-length show at Lower Ossington Theatre on Friday, April 13.

 

Throughout last year’s TOsketchfest, audience members voted for their favourite troupes. Peter ‘n Chris won their hearts and were named theNow Magazine Audience Choice Award winner! Vancouverites Peter ‘n Chris will return to Toronto to perform the local premiere of Peter ‘n Chris and the Mystery of the Hungry Heart Hotel on Friday, April 13 at Lower Ossington Theatre.

 

The Steam Whistle Brewing Producers’ Pick Award went to Vest of Friends for their rampant participation in all things TOsketchfest, from professional development and networking events to supporting their fellow troupes at countless showcases.  Originating at Humber College’s School of Comedy, Toronto should expect great things from these quick-witted vest enthusiasts. 

 

True sketch comedy nerds will enjoy the workshop component of the expanded Best of the Fest Weekend. Falcon Powder will teach their meticulously hilarious writing style on Sunday April 15^th, and TOsketchfest’s new comedy video training program will launch on Saturday April 14^th, in partnership with Charles Street Video.
