TIFF Announces 16th Annual Canada's Top Ten Film Festival

TIFF® rings in the New Year with the 16th annual Canada's Top Ten Film Festival™, presenting public screenings of 2016's 10 best features, shorts and student shorts. The 14-day festival kicks off at TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto with an Opening Night PARTY ON January 13, and features two special onstage events: In Conversation With... Zacharias Kunuk on January 15 and In Conversation With... Director X on January 19.

Programming includes industry panels, special events, as well as introductions and Q&A sessions with film talent - including Johnny Ma, Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, Mathieu Denis and Simon Lavoie, Ashley McKenzie, Kevan Funk, Jared Abrahamson, Anne Émond, Nathan Morlando, Ann Marie Fleming, Zacharias Kunuk and Natar Ungalaaq. This edition also marks the launch of TIFF's year-long Canada on Screen series, commemorating the country's Sesquicentennial with free screenings and events, including an In Conversation With... Gordon Pinsent event moderated by actor-filmmaker Peter Keleghan. Canada à l'écran est un programme gratuit pour célébrer le 150e anniversaire du Canada en 2017.

Select films and guests will tour to major cities across the country including stops at Vancouver's The Cinematheque (January 13 to 22), Calgary's Globe Cinema (January 13 to 22), Montreal's PHI Centre (January 14 to 31), Regina's RPL Film Theatre (January 19 to 22), Edmonton's Metro Cinema (January 20 to 29), Saskatoon's Paved Arts in collaboration with the Roxy Theatre (January 26), Winnipeg Film Group's Cinematheque (March 2017), Halifax's Atlantic Film Festival & Art Gallery of NOVA Scotia at the Windsor Foundation Lecture Theatre (May 1 to 8), and Ottawa's National Gallery of Canada (dates TBA).
