Is your megalomaniac director driving you insane? Is your assistant sleeping with him? Are you? The Stage Manager's Guide to Dating Assholes has all the answers to your problems and more! What She Said Theatre's ruthless political satire will open at the Toronto Fringe this summer on June 30th at The Tarragon MainSpace. SMGDA takes a hilarious look at the hot mess that happens when the lines between personal and professional in theatre become horribly blurred.
SMGDA tells the story of three oh-so-stereotypical stage managers: the Drill Sergeant, the Cheerleader and the One Who Can't Get Her Shit Together. All three of them are dating or are in love with the same director, a sensitive theatre genius with a great ass. They also all happen to be stage managing his show in the Toronto Fringe. As he begins to rely on them personally as much as he does professionally, things get all screwy. The show lampoons the self-idolized male director and his relationship with the women who, to their own comic detriment, support, desire, and at least try, to manage him. Inspired by awkward true life events, The Vagina Monologues, and HBO's Girls, The Stage Manager's Guide to Dating Assholes takes a "hysterical" look at gender politics and the modern theatre. SMGDA will be at the Tarragon MainSpace for the duration of the Fringe. Show dates below:Videos
