Stratford Festival Extends Two Productions - COMEDY OF ERRORSAnd PARADISE LOST

The Stratford Festival has just opened its doors for previews and it's already extending shows!

The Comedy of Errors and Paradise Lost will be extended for an extra week at the Studio Theatre, allowing for three additional performances of each show.

In Paradise Lost, Erin Shields turns heaven and hell upside down in a witty, modern, feminist retelling of the first battle between good and evil. She seamlessly intertwines the 17th century and the present day as Satan vents to an audience about her frustration for being cast out of heaven and her thoughts on oppression.

The production, directed by Jackie Maxwell and featuring Lucy Peacock as Satan, Qasim Khan as Adam, and Amelia Sargisson as Eve, hits the stage for previews on August 1, with its world première being marked on August 17. It now runs until October 21, with the following additional performances:

  • Thursday, October 18, at 2 p.m.
  • Friday, October 19, at 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 21, at 2 p.m.

The Comedy of Errors gets a very modern treatment by director Keira Loughran, who introduces gender fluidity to Shakespeare's hilarious comedy. The production, which features Beryl Bain, Jessica B. Hill, Qasim Khan and Josue Laboucane, is on stage from May 15 until October 20, with the following new performances:

  • Thursday, October 18, at 8 p.m.
  • Friday, October 19, at 2 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 20, at 2 p.m.

Tickets go on sale to the public on Wednesday, April 18, and are available online at www.stratfordfestival.ca or through the box office, at 1.800.567.1600.

Support for the 2018 season of the Studio Theatre is generously provided by Sandra & Jim Pitblado.

The Stratford Festival's 2018 season runs until November 4, featuring The Tempest, The Comedy of Errors, Coriolanus, Julius Caesar, The Music Man, The Rocky Horror Show, Long Day's Journey Into Night, An Ideal Husband, To Kill a Mockingbird, Napoli Milionaria!, Brontë: The World Without and Paradise Lost.
