ROMEO & JULIET Set For Canopy Theatre Co's Summer Season On Outdoor Stage 7/15

Celebrating its ninth anniversary of presenting Classical Works in an outdoor environment for downtown Toronto audiences, Canopy Theatre Company, in association with Hart House Theatre, is proud to announce its 2009 Summer Season.

After waiting through the winter for confirmation, Canopy Theatre Company is pleased to say that rumours of the demise of Philosopher's Stage have proven untrue - at least for this summer! The talented and exuberant group of emergent artists will take to Toronto's unique outdoor stage and present William Shakespeare's greatest tragic romance, Romeo and Juliet from Wednesday, July 15th through Saturday, August 1st, 2009.

As the best known love story in the English language, Romeo and Juliet has had many interpretations and incarnations due to its universal themes of the futility of conflict, the power of love to unite and how events can spiral into tragedy when we fail to listen to one another.

Canopy Theatre Company's Artistic Director, Andrea Wasserman, returns to direct and continue the growth of success and record breaking audience numbers. Continuing its tradition of presenting financially accessible theatre, Canopy Theatre Company is very proud to announce that ticket prices will not increase this Season. For the seventh consecutive Season prices will be $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors; with Wednesdays being Pay What You Can.

Philosopher's Stage at Philosopher's Walk 80 Queen's Park just steps from the Museum Subway station Stage is located off of Philosopher's Walk next to the Edward Johnson Building and the Law Faculty on the campus of the University of Toronto.
