Players Presents AVENGERDALE: AGE OF ARCHIE Image

Players is excited to announce its 16th full scale production: AvengerDale: Age of Archie opening of June 7th and running until June 16th at the Tranzac Theatre. Players is proud to be donating the proceeds from its 2017/2018 season to The Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund, Casey House, and The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.

Players is a theatrical event unlike anything you've ever experienced before. The audience participates (loudly), the actors sing, dance, smash the 4th wall, and drink beer on stage (the audience can provide donations in return for making an actor or band member of their choice drink up), and the entire thing lampoons your favourite pop-culture characters, the city of Toronto, and topical socio-political issues.

Artistic Director Matty Burns said "Players takes the greatest party you have ever been to and bottles it with Toronto's best musical and comedic talent into an epic evening that feels equal measures of nostalgia, original, and unconventional. The audience is the final character in our show, with whom we create an intimate and important relationship with before the show even begins. Patrons will leave the theatre with an experience unlike anything else in the city, and hopefully wanting more"

SHOW SYNOPSIS

The Infinity Wars are over and now the Avengers are stuck in an age of boring, boring peace. Masquerading as high school teachers for the young and impressionable in Toronto's "Riverdale High School". Little did they know that a red-lipped threat would kickstart a new age at their humble school. One that we would all come to look back on as the beginning (or maybe the end) of everything: The Age of Archie."

ABOUT PLAYERS

Part sketch comedy, part rock concert, part keg party - and all for charity - Players is a non-profit company based on a century-old Queen's University comedy tradition. Transplanted to Toronto in 2004, and thriving ever since, Players is the intersection between a raucous, beer-fuelled rock-concert, a hilarious and punchy sketch comedy show, and a charity fundraising cabaret. Over Players' 14-year history, the company has donated over $200,000 to various charitable partners, culminating in a company record of over $25,000 donated to charities for its 2016-2017 season.

Players president Peter Higgins said, "We've got a unique problem: our audience is so loyal that we've never not sold out... which makes it very hard to get tickets into the hands of new audience members before they're gone!" Luckily for new audience members, there are still tickets available for each show! Grab yours now.
