Toronto is preparing for the worst at this year's G20 Summit, held June 26 and 27. In the wake of riots at the Pittsburgh, London, and Vancouver summits, security and safety are Toronto's first priority. The North American tour of MAMMA MIA! has decided to leave the city one week early, closing June 20, and Toronto's production of ROCK OF AGES, now selling through September 5, has cancelled performances for the week of the summit. Reports Variety: "Mirvish Prods. chose to close both shows for the entire week surrounding the G20, resulting in a loss of C$2 million ($1.95 million) in revenue."

The Group of Twenty (G-20) Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors was established in 1999 to bring together systemically important industrialized and developing economies to discuss key issues in the global economy. The inaugural meeting of the G-20 took place in Berlin, on December 15-16, 1999, hosted by German and Canadian finance ministers.

Toronto has a long history of success with Canadian productions of Broadway hits and the city is thrilled to be home to the second North American production of ROCK OF AGES. Opening night was May 11th, 2010 and buzz has been overwhelmingly positive. Members of the creative team behind the show include Director Kirstin Hanggi, Book Writer Chris D'Arienzo, Choreographer Kelly Devine, Costume Designer Gregory Gale, and Producers Matt Weaver, Carl Levin, and Janet Billig Rich.
