In just over two weeks since she wowed crowds at Soulpepper's Global Cabaret, the great Jackie Richardson joins some of Canada's finest musical theatre talent to celebrate the ;music of Billy Joel and Elton John.

Following last year's sold-out Sting concert, "Uncovered: Billy Joel & Elton John," this is Acting Up Stage Company's eighth annual concert dedicated to the musical catalogue of a pop star. And for the first time this year, the company has added a second concert to meet demand. The concert will take place Wednesday and Thursday Nov. 12th and 13th at Toronto's Koerner Hall in the Telus Centre for Performance and Learning, aka the Royal Conservatory of Music. Show time is 8 p.m.

Tony Award-winner Brent Carver and Richardson lead a company of singer/actors from Broadway, London's West End and the Stratford and Shaw Festivals performing some of the most popular songs of our generation. For example, Carver will sing "Rocket Man" and "The Greatest Discovery" by Elton John while Richardson will sing Billy Joel's "The River of Dreams" and the classic "New York State of Mind."

Other entertainers will include Jake Epstein who played Gerry Goffin in Broadway's "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" singing "Only the Good Die Young" and "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" with Stratford's Sara Farb, both by Billy Joel. Stratford Festival and Drayton Theatre star Chilina Kennedy will sing the classic "Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road" and ... appropriate since she's a new mother ... Billy Joel's "Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel.)

Toronto's Jeigh Madjus, who blew away audiences last year with his stunning rendition of Sting's Roxanne," is taking time off from the off-Broadway hit "Here Lies Love" to perform Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl" and Elton John's "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me." With the Charlottetown Festival's Kelly Holiff, Madjus also will perform an Elton John medleyThe Bitch Is Back / Saturday Night's Alright.

As in previous years, acclaimed music director Reza Jacobs will take these songs and write new wildly imaginative and theatrical arrangements, says the press material.
