Venue Ensemble Theatre Presnts Reza's ART, 11/6-11/22

By:

The Venue Ensemble Theatre will present Yasmin Reza's ART from November 6th through November 22nd. The cast features Steve DuMouchel, Eric Misener, and Mark Myers and is directed Michael Holden. Venue Theatre will donate a portion of each ticket sold to the Creative Clay organization.

ART is a Tony Award winner for Best Play and Olivier Award winner for Best Comedy. How much would you pay for a painting with nothing on it? Would it be art? Marc's best friend Serge has just bought a very expensive - and very white - painting. To Marc, the painting is a joke, and as battle lines are drawn, old friends use it to settle scores. With friendships hanging in the balance, the question becomes: how much is a painting worth? "A nonstop cross-fire of crackling language (and) serious issues of life and art...sounds like a marriage of Moliere and Woody Allen," writes Newsweek.

Yasmina Reza is a French playwright and novelist based in Paris whose works have all been multi-award winning, critical and popular international successes. Her play, Art, won Olivier, Tony, and New York Drama Critics Circle Awards for Best Play. The National Theatre production of Life (x) 3 received an Olivier Award nomination for Best Play. Other plays include Conversations After A Burial; The Passage of Winter, The Spanish Play, and The Unexpected Man. Those plays, as well as Art and Life (x) 3 have been translated into 35 languages and produced worldwide. Her last novel, Dawn Dusk or Night (Knopf 2008), has been translated worldwide.

Tickets for ART are available through the Venue Theatre box office at 727-822-6194 or by emailing VenueActorStudio@gmail.com. Tickets are $15 with discounts available for groups of 10 or more.
