A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Tampa Rep Artistic Director C. David Frankel, opens on June 7th, the first anniversary of the company's incorporation, and plays to June 24th, Thursdays through Sundays, in the Performing Arts Building, E. Palm Ave, between N. 15th and N. 14th Streets, Ybor City. Performances will be Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 3PM. Regular admission is $20; students/seniors are $15.

Joining Sargent and Swan on stage will be Barbara Eaker as Stella, Jack Holloway as Mitch, Michael McGreevy as Steve, and April Bender as Eunice. Tia Jemison, Ned Averill-Snell, Jon Gennari, and Adam Crain round out the cast.

A Streetcar Named Desire won the 1948 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play presents an epic battle of wills that erupts between alcoholic, faded Southern Belle Blanche and her brooding, sometimes brutal brother-in-law, Stanley, when Blanche comes to her sister's apartment in New Orleans' French Quarter to escape a scandal.

Tampa Rep's first year has been a busy one. A Streetcar Named Desire follows Alcestis and Cold Storage as the third main stage production, and Tampa Wrights 1 (running May 3-20 at the Silver Meteor Gallery in Ybor City) marks the third production for TRT2, the Rep's incubator company. To celebrate the first year, and to raise capital for Streetcar and next year's season, the Rep has teamed up with the Carmel Café for a fundraiser at the Carrollwood location.
