Tallahassee's New Stage Theatreworks will present Lin-Manual Miranda's Tony Award-winning musical IN THE HEIGHTS July 7-18 at Theatre Tallahassee.

According to the New Stage Theatreworks' website, IN THE HEIGHTS tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York's Washington Heights neighborhood - a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It's a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.

The regional debut of this production will be directed by Krystof Kage, with musical direction by Andy Lagrimas and choreography by Ashlee Benson.

IN THE HEIGHTS contains music and lyrics by Lin-Manual Miranda (Hamilton, Bring It On the Musical, 21 Chump Street) and book by Quiara Alegría Hudes (Elliot, a Soldier's Fugue, Water by the Spoonful). The original Broadway production of IN THE HEIGHTS ran for 1,184 performances at the Richard Rodgers Theatre from 2008-2011. It was nominated for 13 Tony Awards in 2008 and won four: Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Choreography, and Best Orchestrations.

New Stage Theatreworks' production of IN THE HEIGHTS will include evening performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and matinee performances on Sundays at 2p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for students (with vaild ID), and $16 for seniors (62 and older). Tickets can be purchased online at nstw.tix.com or via phone at 850-807-9684.
