Riverside Theatres and Western Sydney University’s Institute for Australian and Chinese Arts and Culture are thrilled to present Viva Korea, a one-off, captivating performance of Korean traditional masterpieces by musicians from Seoul’s National Gugak Centre on stage at Riverside Theatres Parramatta on Sunday 21st January. This unique sensory experience will showcase the richness of Korean culture and musical heritage through narrative singing pansori and folksong, percussion of janggu, transverse flute daegeum, and plucked zither geomungo. With its origins dating back almost 1400 years to the Silla dynasty, the National Gugak Centre is the headquarters of traditional performing arts in Korea, preserving and promoting five millennia of artistic expression. Mesmerising and meditative, Viva Korea is the perfect opportunity for those seeking a deep understanding of Korean culture and artistic passion, and is not to be missed.
