Bloomshed's Pride and Prejudice brings their satirical retelling of Jane Austen's classic to Malthouse's Merlyn Theatre for a strictly limited run, following an acclaimed 2025 tour that earned nine Green Room Award nominations. The production transplants Austen's world of Regency etiquette and strategic marriages into the context of modern anxieties, including the housing crisis and rising cost of living, asking what "happily ever after" looks like in the twenty-first century. Created and performed by Laura Aldous, Elizabeth Brennan, Syd Brisbane, Emily Carr, John Marc Desengano, James Jackson, Anna Louey, and Lauren Swain, the show blends dance breaks, heightened humour, and sharp physicality with an incisive commentary on wealth and accumulation.
