Following a residency with us in 2012, established film and television writer Sue Smith (best known for the series Brides of Christ and more recently the telemovie Mabo) sent through a draft of Kryptonite and we were immediately intrigued.

Kryptonite traces the fortunes of two students at a Sydney university as their careers and relationships intertwine, peak and implode.

Dylan is a carefree, charming Aussie bloke and Lian a shy international student. Over the years their paths cross; he has become a politician whose career is solidly in ascendance while she has finally returned to China as a senior executive.

Life experience - and personal interests - have fashioned new dissonances in their friendship. Is desire enough to transcend politics? Can they bridge the gap?

Artistic Director of State Theatre Company of South Australia Geordie Brookman takes the helm of this thought-provoking world premiere production.
