New Zealand's national treasures, The Topp Twins, bring a cast of hilarious characters to the Sydney Comedy Festival, for one show only at the Enmore Theatre on Saturday 9th May.

Twin sisters, Lynda and Jools Topp, began their careers twenty-five years ago busking on the streets of downtown Auckland. Armed with guitars, a blues harp and strongly articulated opinions about the issues of the day, their soaring harmonies and witty repartee ensured they became the voice of New Zealand's protest movement.

In 1987, a television special unexpectedly made them household names and they have since gone on to have a successful television and stage career.

The Topp Twins' inimitable style of comedy and alt-country has sold-out countless tours in their home country and reached capacity audiences across the United States across the United States, Canada (where they have appeared at the Montreal Comedy Festival), as well as folk festivals, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, several London theatre seasons and numerous Australian festivals and tours.

Serious songwriters with eight albums under belts (Winners 2005 & 2007 Best Country Album & 2009 Best Country Music Group/Duo), The Topp Twins were inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame in 2010.

Other accolades include an Order of Merit for Services to Entertainment, Honorary Doctorate of Arts Waikato University, New Zealand Entertainer of the Year, Qantas Film & TV Awards, Best Entertainment Programme, 2009 Best Feature Film and Best Original Music in a Feature Film (Untouchable Girls).

The theatrical documentary about the twins' life, The Topp Twins Untouchable Girls, broke all New Zealand box office records in 2009 and received abundant international awards, including the prestigious Toronto International Film Audience Award. It has screened at more than eighty film festivals in North America, Europe, United Kingdom and Australia.

"It takes a very special documentary to deny Michael Moore a top festival prize

but to see the Topp Twins, is to fall in love with it." Screen International

The Topps' most recent television series, Topp Country, brought country cuisine and hoe-down hospitality to the masses and was so well received, that a second series featuring Kiwis who are living the dream on the land, is currently in production for TVNZ.

"Truly wonderful television." New Zealand Herald

The Topp Twins alter egos Camp Mother & Camp Leader and The Kens, were introduced to audiences here through their first television series, Do Not Adjust Your Twinset, on ABC TV and they have since enjoyed many sold out shows across Australia.

In 2010, self-appointed Ambassadors to the Arts, Prue and Dilly, were delighted to host a Country to Classics collaborative concert with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra, featuring all the characters and comedy of The Topp Twins. Mega star Camp Mother (tickled pink in full flight on spoons) and Camp Leader (unbridled on saucepan lids), received a standing ovation for their classical debut performance of the William Tell Overture.

With a boot load of hits behind them, the gals sold-out sixteen New Zealand dates on the Grand Ole Topp'ry Tour last year and released a Very Best Of album in October, released through Sony Music.

The Topp Twins are more fun than a possum in your pocket so don't miss a rare opportunity to enjoy some seriously good music and knee slapping, side splitting, spontaneous hilarity, as they cross the ditch FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY, at the Sydney Comedy Festival, Enmore Theatre on Saturday 9th May.

Tickets are ON SALE NOW through www.sydneycomedyfest.com.au and 02 9020 6966.
