Come you Spirits will present a production of Romeo & Juliet at Darling Quarter Theatre and The Concourse, Chatswood this May.  Led by company founders Charles Mayer and Jo Bloom, and resident theatre company at The Concourse, Come you Spirits returns to Shakespeare's classic to inspire connection and open the heart.

Set in a fractured, post-apocalyptic city shaped by fear and inherited conflict, this stripped-back production follows 7 central characters including, Juliet, Romeo, Mercutio, the Nurse, Friar and Lord Capulet. The production draws audiences into an immediate, intimate retelling – against a backdrop of rivalry and unrest, love emerges as a force of hope and defiance.

This is a visceral theatrical experience. An original score, composed specifically for the production, weaves sound throughout to deepen the emotional journey. Each performance begins with a shared breathing practice, inviting audiences to arrive fully and engage as participants, not spectators. A closing meditation offers space to reflect and reconnect.

Come you Spirits' approach extends beyond the stage. Grounded in intention, the creative process integrates breathwork and sound practices to support performers through the play's emotional intensity, fostering sustainability and care.

Timeless and urgent, Romeo & Juliet asks enduring questions: what are we willing to sacrifice for love, and what happens when the world we inherit is already at war? In this reimagining, those questions resonate powerfully with today's audiences.

Performances run Wed 20 May to Sun 24 May at Darling Quarter Theatre and Wed 27 May to Sat 30 May at The Lounge, The Concourse, Chatswood.
