The opera LA BOHEME is playing at the Opernhaus Zürich from Sept. 29 to Oct. 14.
The Norwegian director Ole Anders Tandberg sees LA BOHEME as an opera about artists - and devotes himself completely to the hopes and disappointments of the young artist friends. In Mimì, his great love, the writer Rodolfo presumably sees a muse who should inspire him to soaring artistic achievements, and Tandberg has accordingly created a powerfully visual production: the young artist's poetic fantasies come to life in the auditorium of a Norwegian theatre. Too late does Rodolfo ultimately realise the bitter truth - that Mimì is not a muse, but a woman in need of genuine love and care.
