With words and music by our in-house composer Malin Hülphers, Martin Widmark's inordinately popular detective puzzle stories for children have been made into opera! The clever children, Lasse and Maja, who usually solve all sorts of cases in their home town of Valleby, are here given something really tough to get their teeth into. A travelling opera company comes to town and it is crucial to find the director's lost mascot, which is more valuable than anyone could first imagine. However, that proves to be easier said than done when they have to tussle with all of the nervous people behind the scenes before the big premiere. In this exciting way, our young audience is able to become acquainted with the world of drama and opera.
Malin Hülphers has an enormous amount of experience in writing musical theatre works for children, among which Hattstugan, Sven Duva and Sagan om en kolhydrat are just a few examples. Our manager of the Youth Department, Mia Ringblom Hjertner, and set designer, Thorsten Dahn, are responsible for production. They are working together again after the great success of Min mamma är en drake [My Mum is a Dragon] in 2011. Helena Willis is designing the costumes, and she always does the characteristic illustrations for the LasseMaja books. The cast includes opera singers, actors and musical artists while the principal roles of Lasse and Maja will, of course, be played by children.
The performance is aimed at the entire family but is particularly well-suited to the 9-12 age range.
