The Department of Theatre, Dance and Arts Management provides intense, demanding, and rigorous training for actors, directors, playwrights, set and costume designers, filmmakers, screenwriters, cinematographers, editors, and lighting and sound technicians, dancers, choreographers, musical theatre performers, educators, stage managers, producers, talent managers and agents.
A broad-based liberal arts education will give you a deep understanding of the human experience with skills to write and speak about the arts. Within our diverse department, you'll benefit from an interchange of creative ideas across disciplines and learn from faculty members who are talented and accomplished professionals in their respective field, laying the artistic and intellectual groundwork for your professional success.
LIU Post’s proximity to New York City gives you frequent opportunities to work with professional artists and to hone your skills at renowned theaters, concert halls, and film studios.
LIU Post theatre arts majors are active participants in the Post Theatre Company, which produces plays and musicals for the public and campus community. Students have access to a number of performance spaces to showcase their talents. Our beautiful suburban campus is only 50 minutes away from the theatre capital of the world – New York City. There are many opportunities to collaborate with professional playwrights, designers, directors and producers.
