Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Theatre


Because we are located in a city of endless artistic resources, Weissman offers special opportunities for the study of art history. We emphasize the value of investigating art in various historical contexts and enable students to deepen their knowledge and understanding of visual culture throughout history. As an Ad Hoc Major Students interested in a combined concentration in Art History and Theatre may do so as part of an Ad Hoc Major. Courses selected may be from two or more disciplines based on the acceptance of a proposal by the faculty advisor. Students who are interested in including art history courses in an ad hoc major should arrange to meet a faculty advisor in the department.

Casting Announced for Congo Square Theatre Company's DAY OF ABSENCE

Congo Square Theatre Company, well known for its powerful portrayal of African American classics and gripping new works, commemorates its 20th Anniversary season with a rare production of the 1965 satirical fantasy Day of Absence at the Richard Christiansen Theatre (housed inside Victory Gardens Biograph Theatre, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave.), February 27-March 22, 2020. The official opening night is Monday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m.

Pivot Arts Fest Announces Expanded World Premiere Lineup

Pivot Arts, which celebrates innovative, multidisciplinary performance, has expanded the lineup for its seventh annual Pivot Arts Festival, including five world premieres by playwright/director Seth Bockley, BraveSoul Movement, Chicago Fringe Opera, choreographers Ayako Kato and Erin Kilmurray, musician/actor Ahmed Moneka making his U.S. debut and more. The Festival runs May 31-June 9 at various locations in Chicago's Uptown and Edgewater neighborhoods.
