Webster University's Conservatory of Theatre Arts presents the Tony Award winning musical comedy "Company," music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth. The production runs from Sept. 30-Oct. 4 and Oct. 7-11, in the Emerson Studio Theatre, 130 Edgar Road. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m., except Sundays, which will have 2 p.m. matinees only. Admission is $12 for the general public and $6 for senior adults and students. For ticket reservations, call the Fine Arts Hotline at 968-7128.

Stephen Sondheim's witty and sophisticated musical tells the story of Bobby, a confirmed bachelor who is surrounded by five mixed-up, crazy married couples and three girlfriends as he celebrates his thirty-fifth birthday and contemplates the state of matrimony.

Broadway changed forever when this sweeping, groundbreaking musical comedy hit the stage. "Company" was composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim's first big success, winning the New York Drama Critics' Award and six Tony Awards including "Best Musical," "Best Music," "Best Lyrics" and "Best Book."

David Caldwell, visiting guest director, directs "Company."

Mr. Caldwell's professional career began in 1985 when he worked with Hughes/Moss Casting on the Emmy winning Cosby Show in New York City. After graduate studies at Brandeis University, David returned to New York and worked with a number of Actor/Literary and Director Representatives, as well as other Casting offices, including APA, Stephanie Klapper Casting, NBC and Bret Adams Ltd. From 1997 through 2001 he served as the Artistic Director of the Timbers Theatre in Mt Gretna Pennsylvania. This past year David directed ALTAR BOYZ, ANNIE & DRIVING MISS DAISY. Regional credits include: Merrimack Rep. Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Milwaukee Rep., La Mirada Performing Arts Center, Meadowbrook Theatre, Riverside Theater, Downtown Cabaret Theatre, Montana Repertory Theatre, Totem Pole Playhouse, Pennsylvania Stage Company, Allenberry Playhouse, The Dixie Theatre, Riverside Theatre, Florida Studio Theater, the Hula Hut in Waikiki and at M.T.C., New Dramatists and the Avalon Theater in NYC.
