Avalon Theatre Company presents Portait of My People September 25 - October 4, 2009. It's Avalon's Inaugural Theatre for Young Audiences Production.

Through personal stories and family photographs, Erin Kelley,* a direct descendant of noTed Shawnee chief, Tecumseh, shares her experiences of being of blended-culture ancestry. Illustrating how our assumptions about ethnic and cultural groups shape society, Kelley encourages young people to take pride in what makes them unique. Most appreciated by audiences ages 10 and older.

Portait of My People runs September 25 - October 4, 2009 at Avalon in ArtSpace at Crestwood Court. Performances are Fridays at 7:30 pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 pm. Approximate running time: 45 minutes with a 15 minute talk-back.

Tickets are $8 youth (17 & under) and $10 adult. Visit our website or call 314-351-6482 (no fees!). Group rates are available. Tickets may also be purchased at our walk-up box office at the theatre beginning September 10. Walk-up box office hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 12:00 - 3:00 pm, Saturdays from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm, and one hour before curtain.
