2011 Muny Auditions for Children Will Be 3/5-6
2011 Muny auditions for children (ages 7-13) will be held on Saturday, March 5, and for teens (ages 14-18) on Sunday, March 6. These auditions will be held at the Performing Arts Center at St. Louis University High School, 4970 Oakland Avenue. On Saturday, March 5, children ages 7-8 will audition from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Children ages 9-10 will audition from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Children ages 11-13 will audition from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Muny will be casting children for their production of Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID. Additional opportunities may become available. Everyone who is cast will be notified within two weeks of the auditions.
Auditions for the Teen Chorus will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, and end at 3:00 p.m. The Teen Chorus will be used primarily in the production of BYE BYE BIRDIE. Everyone who is cast will be notified within two weeks of the auditions with a show assignment.
Auditioners may arrive any time within the advertised audition times to receive an audition number. All persons auditioning are required to prepare eight measures of an age-appropriate song and bring their own sheet music in the key in which they are singing. An accompanist will be provided. No recorded music is permitted, and no one is allowed to sing without accompaniment. All participants should dress comfortably, as a dance combination will be taught at the auditions.
All chosen for the 2011 Muny Season can then audition for the 2011 Muny Kids or Muny Teens. The Muny Kids and The Muny Teens are the longest-lived groups of their kind in the St. Louis area. The Muny Kids were founded in 1994, and The Muny Teens in 1998. They have performed at the Missouri Governor's Conference, the Pentagon and the White House. Every year, they enjoy performing at special engagements, serving as The Muny's Goodwill Ambassadors.
The Muny is proud to present its seven-show line-up: The Muny Premiere of LEGALLY BLONDE (June 20 - 26); KISS ME, KATE (June 27 - July 3); The Muny Premiere of Disney's THE LITTE MERMAID (July 6 - 14); SINGIN' IN THE RAIN (July 18 - 24); LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (July 25 - 31); SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS (August 1 - 7); and BYE BYE BIRDIE (August 8 - 14).
