Sorolla, which disembarked on June 12 in room 1 of ships of the Espanol-matadero, is a show that is inspired by the collection "Vision of Spain", of the painter Joaquín Sorolla, created on behalf of the Hispanic Society of New York in 1911.
Sorolla will show, on a trip across several geographic areas of our peninsula, the most significant dances of folklore along with other creations of Spanish classical dance, flamenco, escuela bolera. Thus, regions, provinces and cities such as Castile, Aragon, Navarre, Gipúzcoa, Sevilla, Galicia, Catalonia, Valencia, Extremadura, Elche and Ayamonte will be represented through choreography, designed and created by Arantxa Carmona, Miguel Fuente, Manuel Liñan and Antonio Najarro.
Light, freshness and Sorolla painting movement will be reflected in the sunset scene of Franco Dragone and her team as well as through the design and adaptation of costumes, Nicolas Vaudelet and the score of the Valencian Juan José Colomer.
According to the director, Antonio Najarro, Sorolla is a new challenge that comes from the desire to combine in a single show two universal Arts: the greatness of our Spanish dance and the great painter's work, celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sorolla and the 35th anniversary of the BNE.
