Trustus Theatre Hosts AN EVENING WITH THE THIGPENS, 8/20
An Evening with the Thigpens - a celebration honoring Trustus Theatre retiring co-founders Kay and Jim Thigpen – is coming to the Trustus Main Stage on Monday, August 20. This one-night-only event will be an evening of memories and reflections looking back on the Thigpens' 27 years at Trustus. Doors open at 6 p.m. with a cash bar and appetizers. The presentation begins at 7 p.m.
Producer of the event and incoming Managing Director Larry Hembree is eager to stage this celebration. "This evening will be a poignant and funny look at one of Columbia's strongest and longest running arts institutions - focusing on the couple that has been at its forefront for almost three decades," said Hembree. "Figuring out how to condense the time that Kay and Jim have put into the organization into one short evening has been a challenge but with 'celebration' as the buzz word, it couldn't be anything more than the perfect sendoff."
The evening will feature presentations and remarks by special guests, songs and scenes from past Trustus productions and a candid live on-stage interview with the Thigpens.
Tickets to An Evening with the Thigpens are $20, and reservations may be made by calling the Trustus Box Office at (803) 254-9732. Doors open at 6pm on August 20th. Trustus Theatre is located at 520 Lady Street, behind the Gervais St. Publix. Parking is available on Lady St. and on Pulaski St. The Main Stage entrance is located on the Publix side of the building.
For more information or reservations call the box office Tuesdays through Saturdays 1-6 pm at 803-254-9732. Visit www.trustus.org for all show information and season info.
