NarroWay Productions Holds Stage Combat Auditions, 9/19

By:

NarroWay Productions, "The Broadway of Christian Entertainment," will be holding stage combat auditions on Sunday, September 19, at 2pm at the NarroWay Theatre and Conference Center in Fort Mill, SC. The NarroWay Theatre is located ½ mile off I-77 exit 90 (Carowinds Boulevard), south on US 21. Those desiring to audition should call 803.802.2300 to secure an audition spot.

Stage combat auditions are being held in anticipation of the premier of "Lord of Light" in March 2011. Unlike other NarroWay shows, "Lord of Light" hones in on the sensational side of Christian doctrine, depicting the battle between good and evil and exposing the plight of Satan himself. Thus, within the context of the show there is a physical battle that occurs between the angels of Heaven and the demons of hell. NarroWay is seeking to fill these positions with agile individuals, capable of performing physical stunts and martial arts techniques.

Leading the team will be Kelly Grenga, Stage Combat captain at NarroWay. Kelly is a 4th degree Black Belt in American Free-Style Martial Arts, Certified Actor Combatant with The Society of American Fight Directors, Certified Senior Instructor, and Senior Rank Examiner with the United States Martial Arts Association. He has 16 years experience and has taught and instructed at national conferences.

Previous martial arts experience is not required to audition. Those who audition will be presented with stage combat techniques, then asked to perform those techniques with others auditioning to the best of their ability. All ages may audition, however, those chosen for any part that requires the use of a sword must have the physical strength to safely and accurately wield a sword.

Those selected to fill these parts will be expected to faithfully attend stage combat training classes under the direction of Kelly Grenga. Class fees will be waived, however, individuals must be prepared to purchase necessary items such as swords, leotards and appropriate footwear.

NarroWay Productions is a year-round performing theatre. Individuals cast in parts are expected to continue in those parts through the run of the show. No financial remuneration is received.

NarroWay Productions is one of the premier Christian theatre companies in the United States. The cast is comprised of over 200 professionally trained volunteers, enabling the company to fill each show with cast sizes significantly larger than comparable companies. NarroWay regularly entertains tour groups from across the nation.

Those interested in auditioning for the stage combat roles should contact the NarroWay office at 803.802.2300 or 704.831.8893 to secure an audition spot. More information about the company can be found online at www.narroway.net.
