Godfrey Johnson Comes to the Galloway Theatre In The Blue Devil - A Cabaret

Godfrey Johnson will be performing his new show The Blue Devil at the lovely Galloway Theatre, Cape Town Waterfront. In this show Johnson celebrates some of his greatest inspirations: Bowie, Brel, Dietrich, Weill, Dorothy Parker, Leonard Cohen and many more. Johnson will include some of his latest originals in The Blue Devil.

The Blue Devil will take you on an unexpected poetic and satyrical musical journey and some of Johnson's favorite characters will also make their way onto the stage eg Cape Towns very concerned citizen, Nugent Stein. The show will include Purcell's "Dido's Lament" and Legrand's "Windmills of Your Mind". Godfrey will also give the audience a chance to choose some of their favourite songs from his extensive repertoire ranging from Sondheim to Tori Amos. Johnson's Special Guest will be pianist Nicholas McDiarnid.

Godfrey Johnson has performed in over 200 productions and has won numerous awards over the years. He was recently nominated for Fleur du Cap Awards in three categories for his work in his one-man show, "Vaslav" (best actor in a musical, best performance in a solo show and best musical score). Recent hit shows include, "The Shadow of Brel", "Flirting with Coward" and "Unzipped". In 2015 he composed the music for Pieter-Dirk Uys' musical, "Die Van Aardes Van Grootoor."
