URINETOWN a DAPA and Augustana University Theatre Company Production

By:

The Dakota Academy of Performing Arts (DAPA) and Augustana University present URINETOWN, a side-splitting send-up of greed, love, rebellion (and musicals!), in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. Come see some highly talented area teens and a few professional actors in a revolutionary performance featuring upbeat music, incredible dance numbers and an outrageously funny story you won't soon forget!

July 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Edith Mortensen Center at Augustana University

Winner of three Tony Awards, three Outer Critic's Circle Awards, two Lucille Lortel Awards, and two Obie Awards, URINETOWN is a hilarious musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, municipal politics and musical theatre itself! Hilariously funny and touchingly honest, URINETOWN provides a fresh perspective of one of America's greatest art forms.

URINETOWN is the result of DAPA partnering with Augustana University's Theatre Department to offer a summer camp for area high school performing arts students. Augie staff, alumni, and theatre majors help to staff the experience and serve as directors, mentor professional actors, etc. to create a college-level theatre experience for area high school students who love performing and are after a taste of what college productions are like. URINETOWN is a fully staged, fully produced full-length musical with top of line talent and exciting production values (full lights/sets/costumes) performed at Augustana.

24 area students are involved, coming from 9 different area high schools and all seasoned DAPA actors. They will perform alongside 2 DAPA directors in the production.
