TheatreWorks Presents María José Arjona Exhibition Through 10/13

TheatreWorks will be presenting an exhibition by María José Arjona from 28 September to 13 October 2012. The exhibition is part of Theatrework's aim to present innovative and engaging visual artist that has yet to be seen in Singapore, helping to connect Singapore artists with the international arts community. Below are the details.

About the Exhibition: 

Maria Jose Arjona will be presenting four works, three of which are video works, which were created in her residency at the Watermill Center in New York, Robert Wilson's laboratory for performance Two of these works will be presented in two distinct two-channel videos, exhibiting four different actions which are long durational. The other video work, Four Legged Animal, translate a sort of intimate conversation between the body and the archetypcal domestic object. The last work Right At The Center is a recording of a performance that uses time as a critical element in a voluntary ordeal, which was developed for the Queadrilaterai Biennial in Rjeka, Croatia. 

 
About the Artist:  Colombian artist María José Arjona's work has been exhibited in numerous institutions, museums and galleries throughout Europe, South America, Asia and the US and the performances had appeared in publications. Her practice is mainly focused on long durational performance, involving time as the critical element in performance. Arjona was one of the performers chosen by Marina Abramovic for The Artist Is Present, her retrospective exhibition at MoMA in New York in 2010.
