The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for William Shakespeare's exhilarating tragedy Hamlet, one of the greatest plays ever written. The Globe's Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein returns to the outdoor festival stage, with a cast featuring some of the nation's finest classical actors, to bring Shakespeare's iconic play to life. Revenge thriller, ghost story, psychological drama, political epic, and family saga, all packed in one, with unforgettable characters, theatrical masterstrokes, and world-famous lines. The Prince of Denmark comes home from college to find his father dead, his mother remarried to his uncle, and a spine-chilling apparition roaming the palace grounds. Hamlet plays August 6 - September 10, 2017, in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Previews run August 6-11, with opening night on Saturday, August 12 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets start at $30 and are on sale now to the general public.

A Broadway star is among the cast of talented actors who will take center stage at the Miller Outdoor Theatre this year for the 43rd season of the Houston Shakespeare Festival (HSF).

This summer, the world premiere of Mrs Orwell starring Cressida Bonas (Doctor Thorne (ITV), Gatsby (Leicester Square Theatre), An Evening with Lucien Freud (Leicester Square Theatre)) and Peter Hamilton Dyer (Twelfth Night and Richard III (Broadway for Shakespeare's Globe), A Midsummer Night's Dream: A Play for the Nation (RSC), Genius: Einstein (Fox 21 Television)) will be brought to life at the Old Red Lion. Gloucester Stage Company continues its 38th season of professional theater on Cape Ann with N. Richard Nash's moving American classic The Rainmaker from July 14 through August 5 at 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. Set in the time of a paralyzing drought in Depression-era America, The Rainmaker tells the story of a pivotal hot summer day in the life of spinsterish Lizzie Curry, whose father and two brothers are worried as much about her marriage prospects as they are about their dying cattle. Enter Starbuck, the consummate con man, who promises to solve all their problems, for a fee. Directed by Gloucester Stage Artistic Director Robert Walsh, The Rainmaker cast features Brian Homer as Starbuck; Jessica Bates as Lizzie Curry; David DeBeck as H.C. Curry, the patriarch of the Curry family; Joe Short and Sean McCoy as the Curry brothers; Dave Rich as File and longtime Gordon College Professor of Theater Arts Norm Jones as Sheriff Thomas. N. Richard Nash's most celebrated play, The Rainmaker, appeared in all three mediums; on Broadway in 1954, as a motion picture starring Katharine Hepburn in 1956, and as a television production in 1982. A musical version of The Rainmaker, entitled 110 Degrees in the Shade, debuted on Broadway in 1963.

For the first time in almost 40 years, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre will produce a full-scale production in house. Jeffrey Holland will play ex-miner and veteran conductor of Grimley Band, Danny in BRASSED OFF, from Wednesday 23 August - Saturday 2 September 2017.

Beloved Broadway shows were stripped down, sexied up and given a Broadway Bares twist at this year's edition of Broadway Bares Fire Island. Inspired by some of the theatre's greatest hits and set to pop music, the evening brought Broadway style to classic striptease. Twenty-six of New York City's best dancers came together in Fire Island Pines on June 3, 2017, and raised a record-breaking $56,533 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Court Theatre, under the leadership of Marilyn F. Vitale Artistic Director Charles Newell and Executive Director Stephen J. Albert, concludes the 2016-2017 Season with the Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy Harvey by Mary Chase, directed by Devon De Mayo. Harvey runs May 11 - June 11, 2017 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Avenue in Chicago. The Press Opening is Saturday, May 20 at 8:00 p.m.

THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, present the fourth and final show of its 2016-2017 season, the Los Angeles premiere of THE LYONS, written by acclaimed playwright Nicky Silver and directed by Scott Alan Smith.  THE LYONS will begin previews on Sunday, May 7 at 2pm; will open on Friday, May 12 at 8pm and run through Saturday, July 1 at the Road Theatre on Lankershim, 5108 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood.

Folger Theatre concludes its very successful 25th anniversary season this spring with Shakespeare's gripping tragedy Timon of Athens. Directed by Robert Richmond (Othello, Henry V, Richard III), this rarely produced satire examining wealth, false friendships, and the abuse of generosity features Helen Hayes Award-winner Ian Merrill Peakes (Macbeth, Othello, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead) in the title role. Playwrights Horizons will present the world premiere of THE PROFANE, a new play by Zayd Dohrn (Outside People, Reborning). Directed by Kip Fagan (Grand Concourse at, Exit Strategy, The Revisionist, Asuncion), THE PROFANE will be the fifth production of the theater company's 2016/2017 Season.

The U.S. National tour of the hit musical, THE BODYGUARD, launched on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017 at the historic Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis as part of Hennepin Theatre Trust's 2016-2017 Bank of America Broadway on Hennepin Season.

The Other Theatre Company (TOTC) announces the return of the smash hit with a queer twist Barney the Elf, written by company member Bryan Renaud, music arrangements by Jermaine Hill, original direction by Carin Silkaitis, additional direction and choreography by Tommy Rivera-Vega, music direction by Ali Goodman, November 30 - January 1, 2017 at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. Previews are Tuesday, Nov. 29 and Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. Opening night is Thursday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. The performance schedule is Thursdays at 8 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 3 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Additional shows on Tuesday, Dec. 20 and 27, and Wednesday, Dec. 21.
